Intruder Alarm Servicing

Intruder & Hold Up Alarm Systems (I&HAS) play an essential role in personal and property protection and need to be serviced and maintained regularly to make sure that the system remains fully functional at all times. The preventive maintenance service is designed to detect early signs of component failures and prevent these becoming faults that may prevent the system operating correctly when most needed.

There are 20 checks that need to be done on an Intruder Alarm System at each service to endure its correct functionality. Stand-alone (bells only) systems need one service visit a year. Systems monitored for emergency services response need 2 service visits per year.

We are accredited by the SSAIB and are also able to offer system monitoring for police response.

Fire Alarm Servicing

Fire Alarm Systems play an essential role in life and property protection and need to be serviced and maintained in accordance with BS5839 to make sure they operate correctly.

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires that every device on a Fire Alarm System must be tested for its correct functionality over at least 2 visits in a 12 month period, and at each visit all functions of the Fire Alarm Panel and at least one device on each zone must be tested.

In total, there are more than 25 different checks and tests that need to be done on a Fire Alarm System over the two 6-monthly visits that are required by BS5839. With the right tools and software, these can be done quickly and efficiently, maintaining safety and minimising disruption to occupants.

We are accredited by BAFE and are also able to offer system monitoring for fire service response.

Automatic Opening Ventilation (AOV) Systems

Improvements in Fire Compartmentation and changes to Buildings Regulations means that in new Apartment Blocks, a Smoke Ventilation System using Automatically Opening Vents (AOVs) may be used to detect smoke in a stairwell or corridors and automatically open windows to allow the smoke to clear.

There are 12 different checks that we would do on each of the two 6-monthly visits per year as required by BS 7346-8:2013. With the right tools and training, these can be done quickly and efficiently, maintaining safety and minimising disruption to occupants. Annual Emergency Lighting Testing

As well as the daily and monthly user checks, a full duration (normally 3 hours) test of the emergency lights should be done every year according to BS 5266-1, and the emergency lights must still be working at the end of this test.

The result must be recorded and, if failures are detected, these must be remedied as soon as possible. We would normally perform this test on alternate visits for the fire alarm as an additional service to our customers.
